Dunure to Ayr – Ayrshire Coastal Path

This 7.5 mile (12 km) walk along the picturesque Ayrshire Coastal Path will take around 5 hours. The walk is along a promenade, farm tracks, rocky and sandy beaches

This tour is 7.5 miles long, please allow at least 2 hours 15 minutes to complete it, excluding the time taken to enjoy the destinations along the way.

This walk has beautiful coastal views and quaint harbours but be warned there is some hard walking and slippery rocks along the foreshore. It is essential to avoid high tides, always check the tide times before leaving Dunure Harbour.

The sights along this walk include the ruins of Dunure Castle, an old Kennedy Family stronghold and Dunure Village, originally founded to support the illicit smuggling industry. The headland at Fishertob Bay has slippery rocks, please proceed with caution along your whole journey. If the tide is high you need to either wait or retreat. Then the walk takes you a rock gap, know as the Deil’s Dyke and give you a great view of the ruins of Greenan Castle.
