This enjoyable 29.4km route leads cyclists on a circuit of the fir-lined Loch Spallander Reservoir

This tour is 19 miles long, please allow at least 2 hours 20 minutes to complete it, excluding the time taken to enjoy the destinations along the way.

Starting in the market town of Dalmellington, follow this route northwest on the A713 along mostly forest or farm tracks before circling back towards the town of Straiton. Before entering the village, look out for Tairlaw Linn – a stunning cascading waterfall plunging down the hillside into a rocky pool. In Straiton itself, take the opportunity to explore Blairquhan Castle – a breathtaking estate used as a location in filming for 2012’s ‘The Queen’, before returning to Dalmellington. Idyllic rest-stop Dalcairney Falls will be on your right hand side as you proceed to Dalmellington.
