About Timberbooks
Established in 2007, Timberbooks has been selling quality second-hand, antiquarian and new books, and book-related items, for over a decade.

We strive to promote authors and publishers who are local to our region, and you'll find many of their titles available via our website. With 25,000 books and maps in stock, we are able to offer only a small selection online, so please just e-mail us if you don't find the title you're looking for; we may have it! We also offer a book search service if the book you're looking for isn't in stock.

We're delighted to announce that this year will see the launch of Timberbooks' hand-crafted notebooks and other stationery items made using traditional bookbinding techniques - the result of a collaboration with master design bookbinder Tom McEwan, based in Irvine.

Please visit us at www.timberbooks.co.uk/thecoig for all your fiction and non-fiction needs as you plan your travels to our wonderful region.

A little history:

Timberbooks started in a small shop in Seamill, then moved in 2011 into a shop in the heart of West Kilbride. In November 2013 we purchased Overton (a former church), just along the road in West Kilbride, moving in with 24,000 books and all our belongings. This 270-seat building provided us with the opportunity to host concerts and art exhibitions, as well as book launches, and in 2016 we finally managed to open our dreamed-of teashop - to the particular delight of our bookshop customers!

Sadly in April 2017 we were hit with a completely unaffordable £5,500 annual increase in our business rates, and had to close the property (bookshop and all!) to the public at the end of July 2017. We now sell only online and at off-site events, whilst Overton serves as our home and an office/warehouse.

However, we continue our fundraising efforts in the hope and expectation of re-opening Overton to the public as an arts venue in 2021. As for another high street retail bookshop - only time will tell!
