About Greenock Esplanade
With its official opening in July of 1867, Greenock Esplanade was intended to make the town's traditional shipbuilding and marine industries more integrated with community life. Today, the Esplanade is home to many buildings and monuments of historic significance, including the Galt Fountain (dedicated to 18th century writer John Galt).
