About Byne Hill
The ascent of Byne Hill is steep and in places treacherous, with rocky conditions underfoot; you may, however, be lucky enough to encounter some wild ponies grazing while you climb! On a clear day the views from the summit are unparalleled, encompassing Arran, Mull of Kintyre, Ailsa Craig and even Northern Ireland. Look out for the rugged structure near the peak, which – despite resembling a Neolithic monument – is in fact a more modern memorial to 18th century soldier, Archibald Crauford.
