About Barr
Barr is a small village in the South West of Ayrshire, around 8 miles from the town of Girvan. The River Stinchar runs through the village, offering scenic river walks, many of which pass through Forestry Commission land.

The village is thought to have been established in the 17th century by smugglers who needed a safe place close to the secluded bays of the Ayrshire coast whist also having access to the nearby ‘Raiders Road. The parish has a strong Covenanters history with several being laid...
