About Ardrossan Castle
Ardrossan Castle and its Church and Churchyard were owned by the Lords of Ardrossan who were colleagues and friends to the Kings of Scotland from David I through to and including William Wallace and Robert the Bruce.

In the ruins of the Church lies a grave marker which tradition associates with Sir Fergus of Ardrossan, the only Lord in Ayrshire to have placed his seal on the Declaration of Arbroath and whose name can still be seen on the most important document in Scottish history.
