Every effort has been made to verify the accuracy of the event information but we recommend contacting the event organisers before attending.

Following the success of their 2019 production of Half a Sixpence, Ayr Amateur Opera Company are excited to bring something completely new to The Gaiety Theatre with Shrek the Musical. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, Shrek The Musical is a Tony Award-winning fairy tale adventure which brings all the beloved characters from the film to life on stage -and proves there's more to the story than meets the ears. "Once upon a time, there was a little ogre named Shrek…" So begins the tale of an unlikely hero (Mikey McCabe) who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey (Paul Hume) and a feisty princess (Ciara Brady) who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy (Greg Philp), a fire-breathing Dragon (Lynne Kenmuir), a very handsome puppet (Andrew Martin), a cookie with an attitude (Sara Green), and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek. Featuring songs including ‘Who I’d Be’, ‘I Know it’s Today’, and ‘I’m a Believer’, Shrek the Musical is set to be a roaring success. Join AAOC in their ‘Big, Bright, Beautiful World’ to ‘Let Your Freak Flag Fly’! The performance on Tuesday 25th of February 7.30pm will be audio-described and BSL signed, and at this performance a BSL interpreter will be positioned to the side of the stage.
