Welcome to the Make It Yours campaign
There are still challenges ahead, but I’m very happy to see tourism restart over this past two weeks. People meeting up with friends and family, enjoying short breaks, meals out and even a pint or a glass of wine (albeit with the help of a few umbrellas and thermals at times)!
I know that many places are starting to fill up as people ditch notions of international travel this year in favour of a domestic break, so there are real opportunities to market those perfect places and activities across our region where visitors can find unique and quieter experiences. So, a huge thank you for the innovation, effort, and flexibility that we’ve witnessed already from our businesses to not only get doors open, but to deliver the warm welcome that our region is known for.
We know that there won’t be a straight line to recovery, so it is more important than ever that we all work together in the weeks ahead as we embrace the challenge of encouraging visitors to enjoy their visits responsibly, protecting themselves and our area, spending locally, and spreading benefit across our businesses and communities. With that in mind, we have been working with our public and private sector partners to help bring a unified approach to promoting the region. I am delighted to announce our shared social media campaign called “Make It Yours”, in partnership with East, South and North Ayrshire Councils and VisitScotland, to promote the region for summer 2021.
The purpose of this campaign is to showcase Ayrshire and the Clyde Islands to a domestic audience, showcasing the range of experiences to encourage visitors to love our region as we all do, driving much needed expenditure to aid those early weeks of recovery. The campaign has been developed with industry input to provide inspiration and flexible assets to help businesses and partner organisations across the region to adopt a common message that visitors will be safe and welcome. By adopting this shared message, we can collectively show a united, welcoming, and safe stream of messaging that is positive and emotive. To make that as easy as possible we have created a partner briefing pack and a range of creative assets which are free for all partners and businesses to download and use. I hope you will be able to get behind the campaign to help extend its reach and amplify the message that our region is safe and welcoming this summer.
Thank you and best regards,
Chief Executive, The Coig

The purpose of this campaign is to showcase Ayrshire and the Clyde Islands, to local people and central belt residents. This allows businesses in the area to engage with audiences, and stay front of mind during the ongoing Covid-19 crisis communicating throughout the varying tourism and hospitality guideline changes – whilst keeping positive visitor messaging.
Overall, we can collectively show a united, welcoming, and safe stream of messaging that is positive and emotive.
We want to encourage visitors to our area, and give them confidence to do so, in a safe and responsible manner.
We can do this by sharing positive and controlled messages throughout the summer season to help our businesses and communities to recover from the economic impact of the crisis.
- Local people
- Central belt residents
- Scotland, North England and UK wide visitors (may vary to comply with Covid travel guidance)
We have created a number of social media graphics that follow relevant themes to our Partner Businesses. They can be used by you as they are, or you can adapt them to better fit the marketing requirements of your own business.
Our aim is to adopt a common message that visitors will be safe and that there is plenty to do in the region throughout the summer season. In providing a common campaign message, using a joined up and collaborative approach from all tourism businesses within the region, we will increase our visibility online and ultimately inspire people to visit now and in the future.
We ask that you get right behind this campaign by engaging with it on your social media accounts. Please share, like, comment and engage so that we can extend its reach as much as possible.
Most importantly, please use the campaign hashtag #MakeItYours on all of your social media posts so we can track the reach of this campaign.
