It continues to be the most challenging of times, but I have never been more proud to see the resilience of our businesses and communities. The innovation, effort, and flexibility to adapt processes and whole businesses models in order to deliver the warm welcome that our region is known for has been truly incredible. With continuing forks in the roadmap to recovery, it is more important than ever that we all work together in the weeks ahead as we embrace the challenge of getting people holidaying in the autumn and winter to try and extend the holiday season.

With that in mind, we have been working with our public and private sector partners to help bring a unified approach to promoting the region. I am delighted to announce that The Coig has created a shared social media campaign called “Make It Yours”, in partnership with East, South and North Ayrshire Councils and VisitScotland, to promote the region during autumn/winter 2020.

The purpose of this campaign is to showcase Ayrshire and the Clyde Islands to a domestic audience, showcasing the range of experiences across the region during the colder months to encourage visitors to love our region as we all do, thereby driving much needed expenditure in the area.

Similarly to our summer campaign, this is not about The Coig brand. The ‘Make it Yours’ campaign has been developed with industry input to provide inspiration and flexible assets to help businesses and partner organisations across the region to adopt a common message that visitors will be safe and welcome. By providing a common campaign message, we can collectively show a united, welcoming, and safe stream of messaging that is positive and emotive.

To make that as easy as possible we have created a partner briefing pack and a range of creative assets which are free for all partners and businesses to download and use. I hope you will be able to get behind the campaign to help extend its reach and amplify the message that our region is safe and welcoming through autumn and winter.

Thank you and best regards,

Daniel Steel

Chief Executive, The Coig

Campaign Launch

We are delighted to announce that in support of all tourism businesses across the region we are launching a new social media campaign called, ‘Make It Yours’, in partnership with East, South and North Ayrshire Councils and VisitScotland.

The campaign will be launched early October 2020 on FacebookTwitter and Instagram.  It it anticipated that it will run until Feb 2021.

Campaign Objectives

The purpose of this campaign is to showcase Ayrshire and the Clyde Islands, to local people and central belt residents. This allows businesses in the area to engage with audiences, and stay front of mind during the Covid-19 crisis communicating throughout the varying tourism and hospitality guideline changes – whilst keeping positive visitor messaging.

Overall, we can collectively show a united, welcoming, and safe stream of messaging that is positive and emotive.

We want to encourage visitors to our area, and give them confidence to do so, in a safe and responsible manner.

We can do this by sharing positive and controlled messages throughout the autumn and winter seasons to help our businesses and communities to recover from the economic impact of the crisis.

The audience:

  • Local people
  • Central belt residents
  • Scotland, North England and UK wide visitors (may vary to comply with Covid travel guidance)

Campaign Assets

We have created a number of social media graphics that follow relevant themes to our Partner Businesses. They can be used by you as they are, or you can adapt them to better fit the marketing requirements of your own business.

Our aim is to adopt a common message that visitors will be safe and that there is plenty to do in the region throughout the autumn and winter season. In providing a common campaign message, using a joined up and collaborative approach from all tourism businesses within the region, we will increase our visibility online and ultimately inspire people to visit now and in the future.

We ask that you get right behind this campaign by engaging with it on your social media accounts. Please share, like, comment and engage so that we can extend its reach as much as possible.

Most importantly, please use the campaign hashtag #MakeItYours on all of your social media posts so we can track the reach of this campaign.

You can download the campaign assets which includes a campaign briefing pack and all social media graphics for use on your own social media channels.
